May was my month to be a quilter for the FAITH circle of do. Good Stitches. I chose to create quilt for a sweet family in our church that just seems to give, give, and give. They recently had a set of beautiful twin boys, and are moving near family now that the husband has finished school. Since most everything they own needs to be for two (how cute are double strollers?), I thought it'd be cute to have A Quilt For Two. :)

A Quilt For Two |
I asked each of my bee members to prepare me four string blocks, two in an aqua-yellow-grey-white colorway, and two in an aqua-orange-gray-white colorway.
|
Each baby gets their own side. :) |
I also asked them to please include scraps of non-traditional quilting fabrics that have an interesting texture for the babies to explore. I love the way this came out - I received blocks with scraps of fleece, minky, satin, linen, corduroy, and even tiny pom-poms!

See the fleece? |
All in all I used 32 of the string blocks on the front, and framed it all in Kona Ash.
This left me two extra string blocks, and one special giant block from Rachel at
Stitched in Color. I put these together with a little herringbone, Kona Coal, and Kona Ash into a back I love just as much as the front!
I decided on straight line quilting with 1.5" between each line. I wanted an all over pattern so it would work with the front and back designs, and 1.5" gave it a nice texture without getting too stiff.
I finished it off with binding in Kona Coal. I really love the Ash and Coal pairing.

Gratuitous rolled quilt shot. ;) |
Of course, I *have* to thank the wonderful ladies in the FAITH circle of do. Good Stitches. You all did a wonderful job! Thank you ladies!
The quilt was given to its new owners last Sunday, which will be their last out here. We'll miss you guys!
